about

The Ghatam is one of the most ancient percussion instruments of India. It is a clay pot with a narrow mouth. From the mouth, it slants outwards to form a ridge. Made mainly of clay backed with brass or copper filings with a small amount of iron filings, the pitch of the ghatam varies according to its size.

The pitch can be slightly altered by the application of plasticine clay or
water. I personally have done many projects in India, I have taken home with me some interesting Indian Instruments, this piece of music is to demonstrate what happens when East meets West,
when a Westerner like myself plays instruments from the East with a Western Swing.

We hope you enjoy the flavour and impression left by this piece of music, and hope that I have shown a little part of the culture of India from my various trips. I hope it has left an imprint on you
and a desire to seek out Rhythms from other countries.
