about

The Choora is the knife of the Mahsud, a tribe of the Khyber pass area between Pakistan and Afghanistan. This dagger is a member of the family of knives known by various names.

Although this knife is believed to be from Afghanistan, the same type of knife, Legend says that the makers of these traditional weapons grew tired of strife trouble and war, they turned their hands to making bracelets, bangles and jewellery.

Today the choora is usually red and white; sometimes the red bangles are replaced with another colour, but they are usually only two colours. They are traditionally made of ivory, traditionally worn by a bride on her wedding day and for a period after, especially in Punjabi Weddings.

So we at Drumbelievables took two (Douay) Afghanistan & Pakistani Traditional Instruments and Rhythms and played rough organic rhythms, non syncopated and carved out a grove to symbolise, war into peace through music.

And we hope you feel relaxed and at peace after hearing the Choora Douay. Meaning the Knife into Jewellery symbolising unity between Arab and Hindi.
